St Sid­wells Point Pas­siv­haus Lei­su­re Cen­tre

St Sid­well’s Point is the UK’s first leis­ure centre un­der­go­ing Passivhaus cer­ti­fic­a­tion. The fron­trun­ner pro­ject opened its doors in sum­mer 2022 and is very pop­u­lar amongst vis­it­ors. It de­mon­strates how sig­ni­fic­ant en­ergy sav­ings can be achieved for this com­plex build­ing ty­po­logy.

In­no­va­ti­on & Pas­si­ve Hou­se Win­throp Cen­ter as Mo­del for En­er­gy Ef­fi­cient Of­fi­ce Buil­ding

Win­throp Cen­ter is a sto­ry of in­no­va­ti­on, in­ter­sec­ting Pas­si­ve Hou­se stan­dards with a he­al­thy buil­ding con­cepts that ta­kes a new ap­proach to de­ve­lop­ment. The goal of Win­throp Cen­ter is to ad­van­ce cli­ma­te change mit­i­ga­ti­on with an en­er­gy con­ser­va­ti­on so­lu­ti­on by chan­ging the pa­ra­digm for con­struc­ti­on of lar­ge buil­dings.

Clay­ton Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre & Van­cou­ver Fi­re Hall 17 are ex­amp­les of non-re­si­den­ti­al PH buil­dings re­cent­ly com­ple­ted in Ca­na­da.  Re­view of en­er­gy da­ta and buil­ding con­trols sys­tem are com­pa­red to the PHPP re­sults, pro­vi­ding les­sons for fu­ture de­si­gns.

Of­fi­ce Buil­ding with Pas­si­ve Hou­se and nZEB En­er­gy Per­for­man­ce

The ca­se stu­dy pres­ents the en­er­gy-per­for­man­ce de­sign of the en­er­gy of the cer­ti­fied Pas­si­ve Hou­se buil­ding, and com­pli­an­ce to the nZEB stan­dard. The re­ne­wa­ble and non-re­ne­wa­ble pri­ma­ry en­er­gy de­mand is ana­ly­sed and the main ad­van­ta­ges of the Pas­si­ve Hou­se de­sign in nZEB of­fi­ce buil­dings are poin­ted out.

Pre­fab Pop-Up Le­ar­ning Spaces on the Be­ach? Pas­siv­haus Edu­ca­ti­on Mo­du­les for Warm Cli­ma­tes

The Eco Hub, de­si­gned by ar­chi­tect Sol Es­poil­le and de­ve­lo­ped by Learn­li­fe, is a Pas­siv­haus cer­ti­fied pop-up lear­ning space si­tua­ted in Cas­tell­de­fels, Bar­ce­lo­na, Spain. The Hub pro­vi­des a sca­la­ble, mo­du­lar, pre­fa­bri­ca­ted so­lu­ti­on to crea­te he­al­thy, com­for­ta­ble lear­ning spaces with good air qua­li­ty.

HOTEL in a hot cli­mate. Ret­ro­fit of a His­tor­ic­al build­ing to the Pass­ive House stand­ard. 

First ex­am­ple of a Ho­tel in the South of Spain, in Se­ville, hot cli­ma­te, with the com­ple­xi­ty of be­ing in the his­to­ric cen­tre, pre­ser­ving the faça­de and be­ing a ve­ry small buil­ding (7 rooms). In ad­di­ti­on, the air con­di­tio­ning sys­tem is ma­de up ex­clu­si­ve­ly of a coo­ling floor, sup­por­ted by cold bat­te­ries in the ven­ti­la­ti­on sys­tem. Chal­len­ges that Pas­siv­haus con­sul­ting and de­sign had to sol­ve.
